Sisyphus is happy
Most people read the Sisyphus story and feel sorry for him. Pushing a rock up a hill forever, never getting there — he must be in so much pain.
Camus said we've got it backwards. That's the myth. Sisyphus is happy — out of an absurd world and pointless labour, he made something.
That's my favourite part: the moment you actually see how absurd and meaningless everything is, is the moment you can start living honestly. I'm Sisyphus. I'm not waiting to be rescued. I'm not waiting for things to suddenly get better. I throw myself completely into what's in front of me — half despising the absurdity, half making something real out of it.
